Since the fires began, Pups Without Borders has been providing care packages with essential items for both pets and people to displaced families. Through conversations with many of these families, we’ve learned they are overwhelmed and stuck, dealing with the combined stress of competing for limited housing, navigating insurance claims (for those who have coverage), and managing the financial strain. Many simply lack the resources to secure housing or afford relocating to more affordable areas.
Our solution is to provide microgrants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 directly to those in need, with the primary goal of keeping pets with their families. While many are affected, we’re focusing on offering financial support that will specifically help pets stay in their homes. We can do this by helping to cover housing-related costs such as security deposits or rent), moving expenses, and medical care or supplies for pets. Here’s how it will work:
Applicants must complete a quick 10-minute application below with basic information about them and their pet(s).
Our dedicated committee will review all applications to identify where grants of $1,000 – $5,000 would make the greatest impact.
Selected applicants will participate in a brief video call and provide supporting documentation to verify eligibility.
Approved recipients will be contacted by our team to discuss the next steps and disbursement.
Thank you for taking the time to apply for the PWB Fire Relief Pet Fund. The purpose of this fund is to help the people and pets affected by the LA fires stay together. We can provide monetary grants to assist with (or reimburse for) costs related to housing, moving expenses, or veterinary care. Please be completely honest when answering these questions. Factors such as income, or if you are receiving help from other organizations will not negatively impact your chances of receiving a grant from us. We want you to receive as many sources of help as possible! If you are chosen as a possible recipient, we will contact you to schedule a quick zoom call to talk further. During that call, we will ask you to show paperwork confirming questions regarding proof of address, proof of income, etc.
