Position Overview
Position Title: Volunteer Data Analyst
Reports to: CEO
Location: Remote
Time Commitment: This is a part-time volunteer position, and the Volunteer Data Analyst is expected to dedicate less than 8 hours per week to their duties. Flexible scheduling is available to accommodate the volunteer’s availability.
Position Summary:
AWDC is seeking a motivated and skilled Volunteer Data Analyst to support our data analysis efforts. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about using data to drive social impact while accommodating a flexible schedule. The Volunteer Data Analyst will work closely with our team to analyze data, extract meaningful insights, and contribute to our organization’s mission to make these data findings and insights accessible to the public through various methods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the CEO and COO to understand data analysis needs and objectives
- Collect, clean, and preprocess data from various sources to prepare it for analysis and storage
- Conduct statistical analysis and data mining to identify trends, patterns, and correlations based on target objectives
- Develop and implement data visualization techniques to communicate findings effectively
- Assist in the interpretation of data analysis results and provide actionable recommendations
- Contribute to the creation of reports, presentations, and other materials to disseminate findings internally and externally
- Stay updated on relevant data analysis tools, techniques, and best practices
Qualifications:
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in qualitative/quantitative analysis and data manipulation
- Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, Python, Tableau, and/or SQL (Optional)
- Familiarity with data visualization techniques and tools like Tableau, PowerBI, or others (Optional)
- Proficient communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Training and Support:
Volunteers shall receive an online orientation remotely that includes:
- Introduction to the core AWDC operations team and our standard practices
- Volunteer agreement including expectations for volunteers within our organization
- Training on task acquisition, reporting task completion, and tracking volunteer hours
- Training on data collection and transfer protocol for remote work with data
- How to request support and training from the AWDC Volunteer team
- Obtaining and using an AWDC email – email etiquette, limitations, and best practices
